It’s safe to say that, alongside design, we have coworking in the blood. Myself and another director here at Polleni - my husband and business partner Rog How - founded Pollen Place, a series of coworking studios and an event space from which our Bristol team work. It was here that we first met Neil Quinn (our design director) and where Polleni came to being.
So when Rog and I moved to Lisbon to open up a new outpost of Polleni here, deciding where to work from was not a decision we were going to take lightly. Having run our own spaces for many years - and having met the needs of hundreds of people over this time - we have exacting standards on WiFi, location, space, light, coffee, Swedish barista-style oat milk…
Burst to the rafters with over 1,000 plants, the place is an oasis of calm among the hustle and bustle of downtown Lisbon in Cais do Sodre. The space has been beautifully designed by Spanish architects Selgas Cano - and is carefully curated with Bauhaus and mid-century furniture, perspex curved meeting-rooms and natural light. It’s a beaut.
Events are a biggie here, as is networking - which is another reason why we joined the space. Friendly coworkers include designers, researchers and developers as well as larger companies like Mercedes Benz.io and Vice Portugal. There’s always a smile, and certainly a bit of business advice going if we ever need. We thoroughly recommend it.
